Professor Hoffman chosen as national scholar for new public health program

Sharona Hoffman, Edgar A. Hahn professor of law, professor of bioethics and co-director of the Law-Medicine Center, is one of six scholars chosen to work with local and state health agencies across the country on health law issues. The Network for Public Health Law and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation launched the Scholars in Residence program to provide public health agencies access to legal experts and to enrich the teaching and scholarly work of the law professors through field experience. Hoffman is working with the Oregon Health Authority in Portland to develop enforcement guidance for regulation of in-home care agencies to improve compliance and protect the well-being of the vulnerable individuals served by these agencies.
The Center sponsors frequent lunch-time lectures.
